The Collier County
Commissioners are considering approving a resolution urging the
National Park Service at the Big Cypress National Preserve
Midway campground on SR 41 to
"utilize standard operational and management techniques to
ensure fair and balanced competition" The issue is that
the Big Cypress National Preserve Midway campground rates are very
reasonable, $19/night and "big rigs" are using this campground.
Imagine that! The Outdoor Resorts of Chokoloskee owner is
claiming that the National Park Service is taking his
business away from his resort by charging less than he does.
The owner of the Outdoor Resorts, Kenny Brown, is seeking
assistance from the Collier County Commissioners to pressure the
National Park Service to raise their rates. I believe the
motor coach owners should voice their opinion to the Collier
County Commissioners on this matter. Most of us with "big
rigs" enjoy a State or National park reasonably priced and do
not believe their rates should increase. I am providing
you with a forum by which you may voice your opinion. This
information will be emailed directly to all the Collier
County Commissioners.
