Canyon De Chelly, Arizona

This canyon is located in the north eastern section of Arizona on the Navaho Reservation.  You will be intrigued by pueblo cliff dwellings built high above the canyon floor and far below the rim.  You may take a ride in the back of a truck that has benches for passengers and get a close up view of the ruins in the canyon.  It's best to tour in the morning or late afternoon.  The people in the area call these rides, "shake and bake" for a reason.  It's a bumpy ride and extremely hot during the day.  Take time to drive around the rim and stay the night for the canyon is beautiful and the RV camp ground is FREE!     The Navaho venders in this area have excellent workmanship and you may purchase their wares at different locations along the canyon.  You enjoy the view and may purchase silver, pottery, etc directly from the Indians.  I found the workmanship of the Indians here, of highest quality.  Canyon
